Just Do Something – Wisdom from Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

You know the story from Daniel 3. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t know what God would do when they were thrown into the fire by King Neb’s officials for not worshipping his golden image. They said to the king: “…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us form the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image you have set up” (verses 17-18). They were tossed in the fire, unharmed, and revival (ever so brief!) struck Neb’s heart.

Notice:

1. They were going to serve God no matter what.

2. They did not know what God would do.

3. They continued serving and moving forward, trusting God knew the situation, knew their hearts, knew their motives, and knew their desire to make much of Him.

Big time wisdom here related to what to do when you don’t have a clear ‘word from the Lord.’ (See yesterday’s post) Make up your mind right now that you are going to serve the Lord by making disciples of all nations no matter what. When God makes clear where/what He wants you to do, do it. When He doesn’t, continue to serve and move forward, trusting God knows the situation, knows your heart, knows your motives, and knows your desire to make much of Him. Perhaps when you act you will have one ‘like a son of the gods’ (Dan. 3:25) standing right there with you (Matthew 28:20).

What do you need to do TODAY to busy yourself with making disciples of all nations?
