Why Did God Do It? (T)

Read Daniel 3 and Daniel 6 about Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Daniel’s being delivered from fire and lions.

Now go back and ask the question: “Why did God do it this way?” Or, “What was the end result of their being delivered?”

Consider King Nebuchadnezzar from Daniel 3:29 – “Therefore I make a decree: Any people, nation, or language that speaks anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to rescue in this way.”

Consider King Darius from Daniel 6:25-26 – “Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: ‘Peace be multiplied to you. I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God, enduring forever; His kingdom shall never be destroyed, and His dominion shall be to the end.”

EXACT SAME THING: The end result was a decree for ALL peoples, nations and languages to know that Yahweh God was/is the One true God!!!

Now consider the vision God gave Daniel about the end of all things in Daniel 7:13-14 – “and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.”

All of history is moving toward the day when all peoples, nations, and languages will be worshipping Jesus.

Why did God rescue Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Daniel? To bring himself glory to all nations. It’s why God does EVERYTHING He does. Everything in creation and history is moving toward that end. Thus, in order for you and I not to waste our lives on something outside the plan and direction of God, we must give ourselves to making disciples of all nations for the glory of Jesus.

What are you doing today to actively join God in His work in the world to bring the worship of Himself from all peoples?
