Why Grandparents Should Go on Mission Trips (H)

There are MANY reasons why grandparents should go on short term mission trips, but let me give you one that I experienced this morning at breakfast.

My dad is leaving in the morning (Wednesday) for a short, 5 day mission trip to Guatemala. Here’s the jist of a conversation I had with Luke (age 6) and Seth (age 4) during breakfast…

Me: “We need to pray for granddaddy tonight before bed. . . you know why?”

Luke: “Yes, because he is going to Guatemala in the morning.”

Me: “And do you know why he is going to Guatemala?”

Seth: “To tell people about Jesus.”

Me: “That’s right. Luke, do you know where Granddaddy was when you were born?”

Luke: “No.”

Me: “He and Grandmomma were in Ecuador telling people about Jesus.”

Luke: “Really?”

Me: “Yes. . .that’s what people who follow Jesus do – they go and make other followers of Jesus all over the world.”

It just ‘so happened’ that this morning we were also working with Luke and Seth on their Awana Go! memory verses . . . Luke’s verse? Psalm 96: 2 – “Sing to the LORD, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day.”

Grandparents, know that when you obey the effect continues through generations.
