3 Reasons to Meet with the Lord Daily

In John 16:4, Jesus, the night He was to be arrested, said this to His disciples: “But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.”

Jesus is obviously making sure His disciples know that He is deliberately telling them what is to happen so they won’t freak out. The purpose was for them to hear the truth now in order to bring comfort later.

I believe this promise sheds light on at least 3 reasons for the necessity to meet with the Lord daily:

1. His Word is Alive and the Truth.

They had the physical presence of Jesus. We have the Bible. The Bible is a living Book (Hebrews 4:12). It is alive. AND it is THE truth (John 17:17). The same Jesus that spoke physically and audibly to the disciples then, is alive and speaks to His followers now. . . through His Word.

2. He Knows What You Will Face Today.

Jesus knew exactly what the disciples would face in the seconds and minutes and hours and days and months and years and decades ahead. He knew what they needed to hear. He knows all and controls all. He is busy preparing us for what is to come. . . if we will but listen.

3. He will Confirm in Your Heart What He has Said.

Jesus told His boys that they would remember what He told them. If you do hear from Him in His Word in the morning, when a situation comes that directly speaks to what He has revealed to You – Your heart will have another confirmation of His presence and His eternal love for You. His Spirit will resonate with your spirit what He has told You.

Read His Word. Trust His Knowledge. Watch for what He’s Doing.

So, so good. I am desperate to hear from Him and desperately afraid not to hear from Him. His Word is my daily medicine, a soothing salve for my soul. I can do all He requires for the day because His Word prepares and strengthens me.
